Joint EAC Ministerial Session on Infrastructure Development and Financing Prepares for 5th Heads of State Retreat

Infrastructure is the engine that powers the integration aspirations of the East African Community. Today, the Chairperson of the EAC Council of Ministers Hon. Beatrice Askul Moe chaired a virtual joint Ministerial Session of the Sectoral Councils for Transport, Communications & Meteorology; Energy; Trade, Industry, Finance & Investment in preparation for the 5th Retreat of the EAC Heads of State and Government on Infrastructure Development and Financing. She reviewed the status of the regional flagship infrastructure projects drawn from ports, inland waterways, railways, roads, electrical power generation, ICT and intermodal transport. Somalia's Public Works Minister Elmi Nur, South Sudan's Minister of Transport Rizik Zakaria Hassan, Rwanda's Minister for Infrastructure Dr. Jimmy Gasore and representives from EAC Partner States of Uganda, Tanzania, Burundi and DRC.
