Kenya Launches SGR Link to Boost Regional Trade and Connectivity

Kenya marked a major step in modernizing regional transport with the launch of the Naivasha–Kisumu–Malaba Standard Gauge Railway (SGR), a flagship project aimed at enhancing connectivity across the East African Community (EAC). The event was officiated by H.E President Dr. William Samoei Ruto alongside H.E. Gen. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni in Kibos, Kisumu County. The new railway line forms part of a broader shift from outdated meter-gauge systems to a modern, electrified network, expected to improve cargo efficiency, reduce transit times, and strengthen economic integration within the region.
