Kenya Sets Vision to Enhance Northern Corridor Trade Network
Kenya is repositioning the Northern Corridor as a modern, competitive and resilient trade and logistics hub through the proposed Kenya Northern Corridor Development Strategy 2025-2030. Long regarded as the country’s economic backbone and a vital gateway linking the Port of Mombasa to regional markets across East and Central Africa, the corridor continues to play a critical role in driving trade, industrial growth and livelihoods. Amid growing challenges including high logistics costs, operational inefficiencies, security concerns and increasing competition from alternative trade routes, the strategy seeks to deliver a comprehensive transformation aimed at strengthening efficiency, regional connectivity and Kenya’s economic competitiveness.
