The Leaders of the North and North Eastern Kenya Development Initiative (NEDI) team visit to the Ministry of East African Community, the ASALs and Regional Development headquaters.

The Cabinet Secretary for the Ministry of East African Community, the ASALs and Regional Development, Beatrice Askul Moe, together with the Principal Secretary for East African Community Affairs, Dr. Caroline Karugu, welcomed the leadership of the North and North Eastern Kenya Development Initiative (NEDI) team to the Ministry headquarters. The delegation, comprising Mr. Ibrahim Rashid Ahmed (Advisor, Regional Affairs & NEDI), Mr. Elly Loldepe (Secretary, NEDI), and Mr. Paul Kamindu (Deputy Director, NEDI), shared key updates on NEDI’s progress and priorities across ten ASAL counties: Garissa, Isiolo, Lamu, Mandera, Marsabit, Samburu, Tana River, Turkana, Wajir, and West Pokot. The initiative, a strategic collaboration between the Government of Kenya and the World Bank, seeks to address systemic socio-economic disparities while promoting inclusion, resilience, and shared prosperity in underserved regions. Dr. Karugu expressed appreciation for NEDI’s targeted approach and noted its complementarity with the EAC’s broader vision for inclusive growth and regional stability.
