PS Dr. Caroline Karugu together with H.E. Prof. Anyang' Nyong'o, Governor of Kisumu County.
Ps Dr. Caroline Karugu today held a high level engagement with H.E. Prof. Anyang' Nyong'o, Governor of Kisumu County, and the County Commissioner, Benson Leparmorijo, as the State Department for East African Community Affairs officially unveiled Kisumu as the pilot site for the EAC Jumuiya Section through Kibuye and/or Uhuru Markets.
Kisumu's strategic location - its proximity to three EAC Partner States and its robust agricultural and manufacturing base- makes it an ideal launchpad for deepening regional trade. Upon successful implementation, similar sections will be rolled out in four other cities across Kenya.
This flagship East African Community (EAC) integration initiative will strengthen cross-border trade, boost MSMEs, unlock job opportunities, and position Kisumu as a regional commercial hub under Kenya's leadership in the EAC bloc. It will also offer local traders and MSMEs a platform to showcase goods for regional export, creating direct market pathways, unlocking wider regional trade opportunities and improving livelihoods for the common mwananchi.
