Regional Cooperation Strengthened Through New EAC Climate and Water Policies
Today, joined virtually by Dr. Deborah Barasa, Honorable Beatrice Askul Moe led the Kenyan delegation at the 11th Meeting of the Sectoral Council on Environment and Natural Resources Management (SCENRM), bringing together all EAC Partner States to review progress and provide policy direction on climate change, ecosystem management, pollution control, waste management, and participation in regional and global climate processes. The Ministerial session considered and approved three key policy instruments: the Reviewed EAC Climate Change Policy, the EAC Water Policy, and the EAC Regional Framework on the Implementation of Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs). Also in attendance were Hon. Elizabeth Karambu Kailemia, Amb. Johnson Weru, Julius Mwabu, and other senior officials from the Ministries of East African Community Affairs and Environment, Climate Change and Forestry, reflecting Kenya’s strong commitment to coordinated regional action on environmental sustainability.
