Regional Leaders Convene to Advance East African Economic Integration

Honorable Beatrice Askul Moe led the Kenyan delegation during the 18th Meeting of the Sectoral Council on Finance and Economic Affairs (SCFEA) and Pre-Budget Consultations of Ministers of Finance at the East African Community (EAC) Headquarters in Arusha, Tanzania. The meeting focused on reviewing the implementation of previous directives, discussing the EAC Budget Policy Statements for FY 2026/27, sustainable financing of the EAC budget, statistical and economic affairs reports, modalities for partner states’ statutory contributions in local currencies and progress toward the realization of the East African Monetary Union (EAMU). Kenya’s National Treasury and Economic Planning team was represented by senior officials alongside technical staff from the State Department of EAC Affairs.
