Ministry of East African Community, Arid and Semi-Arid Lands (ASALs), and Regional Development
The Ministry of East African Community, Arid and Semi-Arid Lands (ASALs), and Regional Development was established under Executive Order No. 1 of 2022 following the reorganization of the Government of Kenya. The Ministry has two State Departments; East African Community and ASALs & Regional Development.
The State Department for ASALs was domiciled in the Ministry of Public Service, Special programs, and Senior Citizens before the reorganisation.
The State Department for East African Community is charged with the responsibility of coordinating and implementing policies, strategies and programmes aimed at deepening regional integration. It formulates policy on East African Community, coordinates Government and private sector participation in the EAC Affairs, coordinates the implementation of the EAC regional programmes, coordinates the implementation of EAC Treaty and promotes and fast tracks EAC integration process.
